I've run into this problem myself using pilot-link with jpilot and a IIIxe. I found that dropping the transfer speed (PILOTRATE environment variable) down to 57600 usually fixes the problem. Not sure if it's a bug in pilot-link or the workstation's serial
driver (Sun Ultra 10 with Solaris 7).
