Funny...for someo reason I had to go through this today on my old PV.

in the plito-link package, you will find install-user which lets you set
your user name and a userid.  As far as I can tell, the user id is not
important, so you can just let the software set it for you, but you can
set it yourself.  Once you do this, you will have to go change
~/.pilotmgr/SyncPlan/control to match your new user name/userid.

Syntax:
install-user <pilotdev> <username> [<userid>]

:-) I lost my Palm V and got a new Palm Vx. When I go to sync it up it it says that it has never been synced or it has been reset. It then asks for the name of the unit, and I give enter one (can you set this directly on the Palm???). It confirms and moves on.

:-) The final result is that it gives an error like this when I continue with the sync....
