[PilotMgr] installation problems

I seem to be running into the following installation problem:

The PilotManager download page says that the included libraries will not
work with a threaded perl (my perl -v output: This is perl, version 5.005_03
built for sun4-solaris-thread). It refers me to README.porting, included in
the distribution.

But README.porting file says little about how to fix this problem, can
anyone help? Thanks.
