I agree completely.  IMHO, it is the palm killer app.

The perl API for pilot-link was patched to add a "connect"
function and it is missing in your currently installed 
pilot-link perl distribution.  Perl is confused and is 
looking for a file (connect.al) when it really should be 
finding a perl function.

Download the the following package and build/install.  
It is basically the malsync source plus the patches 
already installed.

  http://slug.arlut.utexas.edu/~jbaughmn/pilotmgr/malsync_src_1_8_patched.tgz

If you have problems compiling or installing, especially
with the Perl5 packages, let me know.  Once installed,
your should be good to go (assuming you don't have any
conflicting versions of perl or pilot-link on your system).
