I believe what is missing is the 'iconname'.  I have added it to the next
release.  In the meantime, if you'd like to put it in v0.312, add the
following line to ToDoClient:

    $gmW->iconname("ToDoClient");

I suggest adding it right after the line:

    $gmW->title("ToDoClient, v$VERSION");

I don't run windowmaker, so I have no way to test this.  If you do put it
in, please let me know if it works for you.
