SyncMemo question

I am trying out SoftTrack - a free Pilot software tracking program from
Pilotgear. However, I am seeing a peculiar behavior and cannot tell if
this is a PilotManager, Pilot-Link, SoftTrack, or PalmOS 'feature', though
I suspect PilotManager's SyncMemo.

About 1/2 of the entities categorized by SoftTrack, when SyncMemo'd back to my
workstation, end up in files named in this fashion "Application Name".txt -
for instance - CSpotRun.txt .

However, the remainder end up in files named Memo0000.txt , etc.
Now, here are the first few bytes of one of the files:

0000000 115 145 156 165 110 141 143 153 012 126 145 162 163 151 157 156
          M e n u H a c k \n V e r s i o n
0000020 072 040 061 012 111 156 163 164 141 154 154 145 144 072 040 123
          : 1 \n I n s t a l l e d : S

Notice there is no spaces in the first line, no nonprinting binary values,
etc.

Is this indeed a SyncMemo 'feature' and if so is there anything I can do
to get SyncMemo to use the real name? This is SyncMemo 1.7 . I am using
it on an Ultra 5 running Solaris 2.6 and perl 5.
