Hi,
Junior Newbie here with hat in hand and all embarrassed...
I've been reading all the mail about duplicate entries in
Data Book.
I've been experiencing multiple AddressBook entries where
entries with less or out-of-date content were appearing
with the most recent entries. So I thought my solution
was to:
1. go through the ~250 AB entries on the Palm V to ensure
they were up-to-date with no multiple entries
2. remove the .csvAddr file in my home directory since
that file is mentioned in the "Configuring SyncAB"
window.
I now realize that I should have saved a copy of this
file instead of removing it. :-(
3. Initiate a "sync" between the Palm V and my workstation.
WRONG...all that did was to wipe-out the information on my
Palm V. I checked out the .pilotmgr/SyncAB directory and
found "addr.db.bak", which appears to have a copy of the
last sync I did (approx. 56K of data).
4. I tried copying addr.db.bak to addr.db and starting a
new "sync" cycle.
All this did was to replace the data with the default entries
in the still "dataless" Palm V.
QUESTION: How do I get the information in addr.db.bak from my
workstation back onto my Palm V? It must have something
to do with the .csvAddr file contents that I nulled-out.
Is there some magic I can do to restore this file short
of asking Engineering Network Services to restore this
file from a recent archive?
thanks in advance for any assistance...Carl Soffronoff
