I've got a brand-new Palm V (ie latest rev of PalmOS and Palm Desktop)

	I get the random duplicate datebook entries too.
	I get them hotsyncing to Palm Desktop on NT.

So, we now have the following:

	Random duplicate entries
	Reproducible on Solaris and NT

Sounds like a bug in Palm software.  Has anyone asked 3Com about this?
