global prefs file?

I'm working on integrating Pilots with our UNIX evironment (my boss wants
a USENIX/LISA paper from me on it as well, we'll see) and I've not been
able to find any support for a master prefs file for pilotmanager. It
would be nice if every user who wanted to synch their pilot on a machine
didn't have to know the proper serial port etc. This becomes even more
important since people might be synching from multiple computers to their
same files (all home directories are NFS served) and nobody wants to have
to reconfigure their setup each time they visit another machine.

If there is support for this, great just point me in the right direction.
If there isn't, I'm more than willing to start adding it, though I have a
couple classes to finish first...

thanks,

britt
