I've just submitted a new conduit which does the same as SendMail but also downloads
messages from your desktop mailbox as well. It is designed to work best with (Ex)MH
but it will work with most mail agents. You can use the Pilot filtering rules to 
determine which messages are downloaded, or you can presort your mail into separate mailboxes
on the desktop and just download specified mailbooxes. If you are using MH, you can
specify an MH sequence to be downloaded.

You can issue an arbitrary command before the mail download, so if you want to fetch mail
via IMAP, or POP, you can do this with something like "fetchmail".

Uploaded mail also also passed to an arbitrary command, so you can either upload new messages
to your desktop "outbox", or you can pass them directly to "sendmail" for delivery.
