Hi,
Just to share info with you, this is what I received from Palm support
folks. By the way, after I upgraded the system to 2.0.5 that I've done last
week, it seems working fine so far.
With regards,
Ienup

Hello 3Com Customer,
Thank you for contacting Palm Computing(R) Online Support. I see that you
must frequently re-calibrate or re-digitize your PalmPilot display screen.
Please make sure that you are using the latest version of the OS. Currently,
this is version 1.0.6 for the 1000 and 5000 models and version 2.0.5 for the
PalmPilot Personal and Professionals. To check what version of the Palm OS
you are running, open the Memory application on your PalmPilot and look in
the upper right-hand corner. Palm OS updates can be found on our Web site
at: http://www.palm.com/custsupp/downloads/indexdl.html
If this does not help, I recommend that you attempt a hard reset. A hard
reset will remove all data and foreign applications that reside on your
PalmPilot, reset the OS, and restore the unit to its default configuration.
However, all data previously synchronized with the Desktop will be restored
during the next HotSync. Therefore, we suggest that you HotSync your unit
with the Desktop before performing this procedure if possible. To perform a
hard reset:
1. Hold down the green power button on the PalmPilot's front panel.
2. While holding down the power button, use the tip of an unfolded
paper clip (or similar object without a sharp tip) to gently
press the Reset button on the back of the unit.
3. A message prompt should appear on the PalmPilot's screen, warning
that you are about to erase all the data stored on your PalmPilot.
Press the scroll up button on the PalmPilot's front panel to
complete the hard reset. Now, the Digitizer screen appears, the
same as starting the PalmPilot for the first time.
At this time, select Custom from the HotSync menu. Choose the appropriate
user name from the list at the top of the Custom dialog box. For each
PalmPilot application (Date Book, Address Book, To Do List, Memo Pad, Mail,
and Expense), change the HotSync Action to "Desktop overwrites PalmPilot."
HotSync the unit to restore all data. Note: HotSync Actions will revert to
their default settings automatically for the next HotSync.
Hope this helps!
Please post all replies under this message.
Thank You,
Mike W.
