Sun Licenses Industry-leading Hotsync® Data Synchronization
Technology from 3Com
Santa Clara, Calif. and Palo Alto, Calif., February 1, 1999 - In a
move that will enable a greater link between technical, enterprise and
mobile computing, 3Com Corporation (Nasdaq:COMS) and Sun
Microsystems (Nasdaq:SUNW) today announced that Sun has licensed the
industry leading HotSync® data synchronization technology developed by
Palm Computing, Inc., a 3Com company. Sun will port the HotSync
technology to the Java[tm] Platform and create Java technology-based
conduits that will provide data synchronization between Palm
Computing® platform handheld devices and applications running on
Sun[tm] platform-based workstations.
