Saga of ongoing problems with Pilotmgr

Well, I continue to have problems with consistent operation with Pilotmanager.
This morning, it core dumped.

To try to resolve the problems I've been having, I added a -w and a use strict;
to the PilotManager script and have been trying to face the onslaught of
warnings. I am seeing failed globs, passing of lists when scalars are
expected, substrings outside of strings, strings passed instead of numerics,
and more.

The problem is that I really don't know perl all that well. I was wondering
if perhaps anyone out there had already gone thru this exercise and had a
next generation PilotSync.pm, PDA::Pilot, etc.
