On pg. 80 of the October CACM, an advertisement appears for a contest
sponsored by Microsoft, a group of Microsoft OEM's, and ACM to develop
applications on WinCE. Like the American Medical Association, ACM is supposed to
be a vendor-neutral professional organization. If you feel, as I do, that it is
inappropriate for ACM to sponsor a contest on a particular vendor's operating
system, particularly a vendor that is currently locked in intense competition
with PalmOS for market share in the palmtop market, then please send email
to the CACM editor at crawford_d@xxxxxxxx This contest could easily have
been structured for portable applications that would run on either OS,
or included PalmOS in addition, and thereby made vendor-neutral.
