BTW, Calendar Manager stores it's data in a log file, usually
/var/spool/calendar/callog.$USER on your calendar server.

While I believe it does get compressed, you should be
able to read the file (try it reading it from the end
and working backwards) and see any appointments that
are added and deleted.  You need to be on your calendar
server to read this file.

Out of paranoia, I wrote a script that uses RCS to
archive my calendar log and all of my pilot memos.
Through RCS I could reproduce any version of these
files.  This is very handy for memos.

I run my script as a SyncMemo post-update script.

It works ok, but it could be improved by directly
integrating it with SyncMemo.
