Syncing calendars w/ PalmPilot

Quick question:

I am trying to sync my calendar with CDE calendar mgr.  Before I sync,
I hide the "private" items on palmpilot.  However, they show up viewable
in my CDE calendar by everyone (world) after the sync.

has anyone run into this (i assume its operator error...)

btw- using a Palm III with the fast option for calendar backup enabled,
with palmpilot overiding desktop.
