Been there, done that.. I tried Handstamp first when I was researching this.
They actually have less functionality than the built in scripting language..
You're right though, they may be more amenable to changes... the reason I wanted
to fix it in the network libraries themselves are so that other applications (of 
which I was planning to port a current app of mine) could use this fix as
well....
