Re: [PilotMgr] USB cradles and Sun serial connectors

Pete,

Thanks for the suggestion. I already checked with Sony, and while they
make a few serial cradles for the Clié line, they don't make a serial
cradle for mine, the PEG-N610C. (When I called, the Sony customer
service guy acted as though I wanted to build an outhouse in the
property of a modern, million-dollar mansion -- in other words, with
major distaste!)

That's why I'm addressing this discussion group; I was hoping that
someone had solved the problem as you state it: to attach a USB device
to a serial port.

I know I'm not the only one with this requirement. The SunBlade
workstations have USB ports, but they're relatively new, and I'm not
able to get one right now. Besides, replacing an entire desktop merely
to connect a PDA in an age of so many effective adapters seems an
extreme step to take.

So ... am I S.O.L. right now? I keep hoping I'm not.

-Todd.

· I don't mean to crash the party, but the adaptor in question is
designed
· to take a USB port from the computer and attach a serial device to it,
· NOT take a serial port from the computer and attach a USB device to
it.
· To my knowledge, no such beast exists yet. Perhaps you should check
into
· whether sony makes a serial cradle for the clie.
