You're right here: Most PilotManager conduits are not capable of doing a
so-called 'Full Sync'. The Pilot has some optimisation capabilities: It
marks records in a database that have changed since last hotsync. The
sync software should then
- Check if the last hotsync date on the pilot matches the date the sync
software thinks the last hotsync was
- If both date match do a fast sync, i.e., retrieve only changed records
from the pilot
- If dates don't match retrieve ALL records from the pilot
- compare and match records
- Update the 'changed' flags in the pilot
The typical PilotManager application always does a fast sync, ignoring
the non-matching hotsync date. So if you sync to another application,
the changed flags are deleted and the sync software gets confused.
I have updated the PilotSync.pm generic hotsync algorithm and applied
changes to the SyncAB conduit as an example. I regularly use this to
sync to my desktop at home and at work. You can retrieve the software at

Also at this page is a conduit for syncing the pilot calendar with the
UNIX ical calendar and a conduit for syncing DateBook alarm sounds with
MIDI files.
