[PilotMgr] Basic Help: Hotsync

I'm hoping that someone can help...  I am new to Palm and pilotmanager.
I've read the directions (and I thought followed them).  I've downloaded
the files and changed the file for the 3.5 patch and I still get the
error: Unable to connect to the Pilot.  Sync aborted.

If someone could spare a few minutes to help me troubleshoot this I 
would appreciate it.  It must be something basic since I've seen the 
emails on how easy this is.
