Don't know if this sheds light on anything. I run CDE with multiple quadrants. During
the course of a sync, whenever the PilotManager window is redrawn, it pops up in
the quadrant I happen to be in, not necessarily the quadrant I originally had
the window. Maybe in your case, PilotManager is not able to redraw itself in
your other desktop while you are switched and so is suspended until you come
back to that destkop?
