Jason,
Yes, I have seen such a message. I think that the message I am seeing,
and the reason why I can not sync from my Sun workstation is the same
problem that you are seeing, but I am not sure.
The problem that I am having is that the serial port is not writtable by
my user.
I am trying to use port ttya on my machine.
ls -l /dev/ttya
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 13 1999 /dev/ttya ->
term/a
ls -l /dev/term/a
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 38 Apr 13 1999 /dev/term/a ->
../../devices/sbus@1f,0/zs@f,1100000:a
ls -l /dev/../../devices/sbus@1f,0/zs@f,1100000:a
crw--w---- 1 root tty 29, 0 May 10 17:27
/dev/../../devices/sbus@1f,0/zs@f,1100000:a
On a machine that the sync works:
ls -l /dev/../../devices/sbus@1f,0/zs@f,1100000:a
crw-rw-rw- 1 root sys 29, 0 Aug 11 17:42
/dev/../../devices/sbus@1f,0/zs@f,1100000:a
I do not have read access to the port on my workstation! Only root can
change these rights. I can not ask the service desk people to help
because the moment I mention that I want to have the rights to read from
the serial port because of my desire to sync my pilot, they tell me that
they do not support the pilots and will not help me further. I guess
they do not support serial ports on the workstations. I can't wait till
having to deal with the USB ports and the Sunrays, yeeehaw.
So I have to sync from someone else's workstation.
