[PilotMgr] Tried to update conduits, getting error waking task message

I downloaded and properly unzipped some of the latest conduit releases.
But when I try to do an install none of the .pm files get recognized.
When I do the upgrade by restarting PilotManager, I am getting stuck 
at "setting time on pilot" with the following error message:
Notify Mgr.c,Line:846
error waking task
which forces me to reset the palmpilot.
What I am I doing wrong when trying to update existing conduits, and
how can I get rid of this error message?
