With all this off-topic advertisement of a proprietary app,
I don't think I have to be ashamed of my plug for an Open
Source solution ;-)

If you don't need the online capabilities in AvantGo then 
you could try Plucker. It is free (as in speech and not 
only as in beer:) and the application is 215k smaller than
AvantGo leaving room for more content (it is actually 275k
smaller since the malsync files takes up some space too).

It doesn't require that you connect to a remote server to
get the content, so it will allow you to include info from
an internal site.

And to make this message somewhat relevant to the PilotManager
mailing list, I'm thinking about writing a conduit for it
allowing you to sync Plucker databases. I don't know how
difficult it might be (not knowing that much of Perl), but
since we have separated the actual gathering of the content
and the syncing of it to the Palm it would require that it
is possible to run a program from PilotManager even when you
are not syncing the device. But first I have to get PM running
on my laptop...
