Perl_safemalloc not found

HI,

I'm using perl, version 5.005_03 built for sun4-solaris and trying to
sync plan with my pilot.

I did a fresh download of pilotmgr_107.latest.dev.tar.gz,
 5.005-sun4-solaris-pkg.tar.gz, pilot.latest.sun4-solaris-tk.tar.gz,

and conduits

SyncPlan_v0.95BETA.tar.gz, SyncTime_v1.02.tar.gz, Backup_v1.007.tar.gz

I then ran PilotManager to configure and again to run it and then after
editing ~/.pilotmgr/SyncPlan/control, a third time to sync with plan,
I get the error message:

ld.so.1: /home/jwb/ebin/perl: fatal: relocation error: file 
/home/jwb/PilotMgr/pilotmgr/lib/perl5/sun4-solaris/auto/MD5/MD5.so:
symbol Perl_safemalloc: referenced symbol not found.

Any ideas where to find it, and/or what needs to be change???
