pilotmgr hangs / chmod settings?

Hi,

Since installing, I experience the following hang-up
while doing the sync with my  pilot .. fyi I'm using Linux kernel 2
(mandrake 6.0). 

While handling the sendmail conduit, half way, the little fill-up bar
in the pilotmgr sub-screen stops. Shortly after the pilot tells me the
connection was lost, and that some of my data was not backed-up. After 
a little while, pilotmgr unfreezes and it then tells me:

Synchronizing using the SendMail conduit
Sent 1 msg(s).
Synchronizing using the Backup conduit
Starting Backup..
Error backing up 'DatebookDB'
Error backing up 'MailDB'
Error backing up 'MemoDB'
Error backing up 'Saved Preferences'
Error backing up 'ToDoDB'
Error backing up 'Unsaved Preferences'
6 WERE NOT backed up!
Unable to fully expire modified archive: 1999-10-01 19:26:41
Synchronization complete

One thing I also noticed, is that the pilotmgr will not delete the
sent-mail from the pilot (so the messages get sent several
times if I do not delete them. If there is more than one message
queued, it will only handle the first..). This will also not work,
btw, if I use pilot-mail with -d delete as setting. 

I think it has to do with the rights of the various files. I fiddled
around with that a bit - they seem to have all the rights they can
possibbly get, by now, but that has not solved it.. hmm.

I tried running pilotmgr with myself as root, but that helped
neither.. 

Could anybody point me in the right direction as to look for the
mistake I make? Thanks!
