Perl 5.005_58 vs pilotmgr

I upgraded my perl this week and when I got around to attempting a
sync I discovered that things are not working so good.  For instance,
when I attempt the sync, the synctime and synccalendar seem okay.
But the SyncMemo sits for a while and then the palm gives me an error
message that the connection was lost.  However the pilotmanager never
recognizes that fact and I end up having to kill it.

Anyone else attempting to try out the new perl (which is supposed
to be released soon I understand) ?
