It is true, I DO have serious problems with restoring the databases.
To figure out where the problem is I made a hard reset of the Pilot. The first
thing I had to do after that procedure is to install the user and user-id (using
install-user). Then I installed all databases (except the built-in ones) and
programs - no problem. After that I tried to install the built-in DBs (namely
AddressDB and MemoDB) - "fatal exception" on the Pilot. A "pilot-xfer -d MemoDB"
to delete MemoDB on the Pilot also results in a "fatal exception".

So the last thing I tried was to restore data with the original 3com Software
(Windows NT), which also yields a "fatal exception".

In my opinion there are two possible reasons for this behaviour:
1) My Pilot has a defect.
2) The data format of the databases backuped with PilotManager is corrupt. Maybe
because I am using a German version of the Pilot software??

So the last question I would like to ask in this thread: Did anyone successfully
restore built-in databases with non-english Pilot software?

Matthias
