Clearing Address Book and Date Book

I've just bought a Palm 3X and I'm passing my old Pilot on to someone
else.  I'd like to delete all my addresses and appointments first. But
I don't want to do a hard reset and also lose all the apps I have
added.

Are there any options other than hard reset or tedious item-by-item
deletion to clear all the address and date book data?
