Time error

Since last week, I have been getting a message that I can't sync my 
palm pilot until I use the correct setting on my system clock.  I have
tried using the local time and the setting the clock as the pilot
error message suggests but I still get the error message.  Rebooting
does not help.  Any ideas on how to fix this?
