Thanks for the pointer to BrainForest.

My goal is to attempt, as much as possible, to use freely available
software.  With some pain, I've been able to do that so far.

I suspect that what I will eventually consider building is a write-todos
that takes the read-todos format and produces a todo database.  Then, in
theory, I could create a new todo database, delete the one on the Palm,
and install the new one.

I don't know what problems that would create, but it's an option I suppose.
