There is a conduit for plan, but I haven't been incredibly happy with
plan itself.

example minor annoyances:
My system clock runs on GMT. plan doesn't handle timezones, so
whenever we swith to/from daylight savings time I have to adjust the
"offset from GMT" field in plan. If date returns the correct time, I
don't see why plan can't.
You can schedule alarms more than 24 hours before an event, but in my
version of plan this seems to be treated as time mod 24, so the max
notification is actually 23 hours and 59 minutes.
Anyway I'm still using it.
