Weird Packets messing with my sync

All,

I heard this thread bounced around recently (and I've checked the
archives, so I know it's come up a lot), sorry to bring this up again
but it's a show-stopper for me.

I keep getting "weird packets" during my syncs. But, it seems like I'll
go weeks with perfect syncs and then suddently have a rash of problems.
Yesterday, it failed so miserably time and time again that eventually,
SyncCM decided *every* appointment in my Pilot needed to be brought over
to my calendar (and vice-versa) so that I had dupes of every appointment
until the year 2005.

So -- the only conclusion I've heard so far is that it's a hardware
problem with my workstation (which is a SS20 for reference). Has anyone
had any luck fixing this problem where it didn't involve a problem with
the hardware itself?

I have checked my serial port configuration and it seems to be correct..
It's configured as:

ttya-rts-dtr-off=false
ttya-ignore-cd=true
ttya-mode=38400,8,n,1,-

crw-rw-rw- 1 root sys 29, 0 Nov 2 13:50
/devices/obio/zs@0,100000:a

I've also tried setting ttya-ignore-cd to false.

I'm kind of afraid to do another sync until I can resolve the "weird
packet" issue.. and I really miss PilotManager.. :-) I've also noted
that this happens if I use the pi-getrom program in the pilot-link
package, too, so it isn't confined to just PilotManager..

Anyway, thanks in advance.
