Basic Perl Programming
Duration: 2 Days
Basic Perl Programming covers the constructs and techniques
required to build perl programs. Basic programming techniques
such as use of variables, flow control, and basic input/output
are presented. Each topic is accompanied by several laboratory
exercises designed to reinforce the lecture and to give students
experience in problem solving with perl. The lab exercises include
problems which can be used outside of the course for everyday
administration of a system or with simple automation tasks.
Audience
System Administrators, course instructors, and others who are involved
in system administration. Other personnel involved in task automation or
producing simple, text-based interfaces.
Prerequisites
Experience with Unix Bourne (or equivalent) shell programming.
Experience with C helpful but not required.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Run perl programs
- Create programs to manipulate text files (input/output/modification)
- Create programs to read and react to command line arguments
- Build text-based menuing systems
- Automate common administrative tasks
