migration to Palm III from PalmPilot Professional

Hi,
So I bought a Palm III and trying to migrate to it from 
PalmPilot Professional that I currently use.

I wonder if it is possible and safe to move all the data
and the programs from Pro by simply HotSync'ing with
the Backup conduit on, and then "Install" the backed up
data with the new Palm III.  Anybody has any idea or
experience?  In other words:
	(1) can "backup" backs up the programs too?
	(2) are all programs (except OS) and data compatible
	    between Pro and III?
