I'm running fine thru 3 different builds now, even in ko locale.

tentmakers$ uname -a
SunOS tentmakers 5.7 s998_14 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-1
(in 64-bit)

I didn't re-install or anything; just used the same set up
from 2.6 days.
