Busy serial port on Palm Pilot

I don't think my previous post made it to this list...

My palm pilot is telling me that the serial port is busy with another
application whenever I try to hotsync.  I get the message even with no
cable/cradle attached.  I have reset it, check for unusual applications
and found nothing new.  Any thoughts?
