Also check out
http://strannik.eng/webshell/
(click on the "name lookup" icon).
This simply uses perl's grep directly on the names database, opening it as a
file handle, e.g.:
open (NAME, "< /usr/dist/share/lib/nameslist");
And has anyone used the "addresses" program that comes with the latest version
of pilot-link?. It should be pretty easy to write a script which can do name
lookups - ready the output for the pilot-link tool, and then load the entries
into the pilot (e.g. look up your dept. number, and then have everyone in your
department in your pilot database.
The other idea I have is this: a web based pim that accesses the pilot-link
tools, and the networking sync function, and then you can access your pim and
sync your pilot to your own desktop from any machine on the net. Not that I
necessarily have time to do this ;-).
