[PilotMgr] Conduit programming

Could someone outline for me the sync process that the conduits for pilot
manager follow

I'm used to Coldsync which does a three process sync:
1. conduits can make changes to pdb files on server
2. fast sync is performed to update data on palm from pdb and update pdb
from palm (only changed data is exchanged)
3. conduits can make changes to pdb files on server

I'm also interested in how any of the other pilot packages do it
